written Green Fleet and Freight Trophy

Brasil BioFuels (BBF), a Brazilian company that operates in agribusiness from palm cultivation to trading, biofuel production and renewable energy generation, was the winner of the Frotas & Fretes Verdes 2022 trophy. Winner in the category "Company with sustainability in process or product", BBF won the award through a popular vote organized by the Besc Institute of Humanities and Economics.

Milton Steagall, CEO of BBF, believes that the biofuels produced with palm oil by the company were key to the achievement. "We have created sustainable products to decarbonize transport, industry and power generation in the North and now, with the Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) project, we will benefit the whole world by offering renewable options for the aviation sector," explains Steagall.
The executive celebrates the award and adds: "It was an honor for BBF to be nominated and to win; something that fills us with pride. We believe that it is a recognition of a renewable production model that promotes sustainable development where we operate.

Aimed at promoting, disseminating, and improving the efficient use of fuels, as well as the development and use of materials present in cargo transport, the award reinforces BBF's role in the energy transition and in the development of sustainable solutions with quality and performance, contributing to the decarbonization of various sectors.

The award also had other categories, such as outstanding executive, influencer for sustainable mobility, individual researcher and startup for sustainable logistics. Besides BBF, in this category the BESC institute's award had the participation of other large companies, such as Grupo Maroni, Renault and Tecon Salvador.

About BBF

Brasil BioFuels (BBF) is the largest oil palm producer in Latin America, with a cultivated area of over 68,000 hectares and production of around 200,000 tons/year of oil, and one of the pioneers in creating sustainable solutions for generating energy in isolated systems: plants powered by biodiesel produced in the region. Its agricultural activity recovers areas that were degraded until 2007 in the Amazon, following the Agroecological Zoning of Oil Palm Culture (ZAE), approved by Decree 7.172, of May 7, 2010.

BBF has created an integrated business model in which it operates from the beginning to the end of the value chain - from palm planting, crude oil extraction and biofuel production to energy generation - with assets totaling around R$1.5 billion and activities generating more than 6,000 jobs in the northern region of Brazil. BBF's operations are located in the states of Acre, Amazonas, Rondônia, Roraima and Pará, comprising 38 thermoelectric plants (24 in operation and 14 under implementation), 3 oil palm crushing units, 1 soybean crushing unit and 1 biodiesel industry.

The company is expanding its supply of biofuels and has signed partnerships for the production of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) and Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil (HVO), also called green diesel. The new sustainable fuels will be produced in the first Biorefinery of this type in the country, currently under construction in the Manaus Free Trade Zone, scheduled to start operating in 2025.
