Pará, July 15, 2024 - In an unprecedented agreement, Grupo BBF is reinforcing its incentives for Family Farming in the state of Pará, through a new partnership with the Apiteua Association, in the Bom Futuro community, which has been settled for over 8 years on the Malhada da Areia farm, a private property owned by the company in the municipality of Moju, in the state of Pará.

The community celebrates the positive conclusion of the agreement, leaving behind years of legal negotiations and land disputes in the area, and will now have its Family Farming carried out in a perennial, regularized way and generating income from this important partnership with the company.

The first 16 families who occupied and settled there were already growing small crops of peppers, legumes, fruit and vegetables, which they sold on the local market and also for their own consumption, in a model of subsistence farming.

In this first stage of the agreement with the families, Grupo BBF will harvest the oil palm fruit (popularly known as palm oil) from these farmers in a Family Farming model, generating income and technical assistance for the families that are part of the Association.

For Mrs. Lenilza Reis - the partnership with the company is essential for the future of families and new generations: " Grupo BBF listened to us, supported us and now we are celebrating this new milestone, which will provide more dignity and better conditions for our families. We are very happy with this new moment".

For Grupo BBF's Agricultural Director, Fábio Pacheco, the partnership reinforces the importance of the Family Farming program, which is a benchmark in the oil palm market in Brazil: "Year after year, Grupo BBF has strengthened its Family Farming program in the state of Pará, providing technical assistance, buying fruit at competitive prices and economically developing the communities around our operations. Having the families of the Association as our partners after years of legal disputes symbolizes a new moment for the company that needs to be celebrated by everyone."

Grupo BBF 's Family Farming program encourages more than 400 registered families and last year alone provided more than 2,000 free technical assistances to partner farmers, fostering technical qualification and improvements in oil palm cultivation in the state.
