Biodiesel is a renewable fuel produced from vegetable oils and animal fats. Its chemical definition is that of a methyl or ethyl ester, obtained from a chemical process called transesterification. In Brazil, Biodiesel has been regulated since 2005 and is used to fuel heavy fleets, agricultural machinery and power generators, among others.
Biodiesel can partially replace the use of fossil diesel in engines. The mixture of Biodiesel and Diesel is known by the letter B followed by the percentage of biodiesel added. Since 2021, the Federal Government has set a blend of 10% biodiesel in commercial diesel, also known as B12. Find out how we can sustainably fuel your business.
Our Biodiesel is produced from palm oil, grown by BBF in the heart of the Amazon Rainforest.
Since 2009 we have been pioneers in the production of biodiesel from palm oil, our main raw material, promoting socioeconomic development and environmental preservation for the Northern region. We are the largest palm oil producer in Latin America.
Our sustainable cultivation recovers degraded areas in the Amazon, generates more than 6,000 direct jobs and income for isolated communities.
To guarantee the high quality of our biofuel, we test and certify BBF Biodiesel in reference laboratories in accordance with Resolution 45 of 25/08/2014, accredited by INMETRO in accordance with the ISO IEC 17025 standard, recognized in Brazil and internationally.
We are committed to the high quality of our Biodiesel and to the sustainable development of our value chain. Learn about some of our certifications:
Biodiesel is a renewable and biodegradable biofuel. It does not contain sulfur, does not emit carcinogenic substances, and avoids carbon emissions. It plays a key role in the energy transition of several sectors such as logistics, agriculture, power generation, among others. Come decarbonize your business with BBF.
Since 2009 we have been producing Biodiesel in our plant located in Ji-Paraná (RO), called AmazonBio. The plant has the capacity to produce more than 64 million liters annually and its location is strategic, with easy access to the main logistics axes of the Northern region.
Scheduled to open in the second half of 2023, our new Biodiesel plant will be able to produce more than 71 million liters annually.
We are pioneers in the development of new biofuels to accelerate the decarbonization of the economy and promote the development of the Amazon.
The new biofuel will not require adaptations in engines or the need for blending, allowing the substitution to occur immediately, generating enormous benefits for the planet. The production capacity will be more than 250 million liters annually, starting in 2025.
The new biofuel will reduce the emission of gases into our atmosphere by about 90% and will allow the reduction of up to 100% of sulfur emissions (SOX). The production capacity will be more than 280 million liters annually, starting in 2025.
We operate in the entire production chain, as a way to ensure the efficiency of the proposed solutions and the commercialized products.
