In Brazil, oil palm cultivation recovers areas degraded by 2007 in the Amazon. Our country is a global benchmark in the sustainable cultivation of this crop.
The crop acts in the recovery of degraded areas in the Amazon and keeps people in the field, generating income and socioeconomic development.
Our sustainable oil palm cultivation contributes to the balance of the forest, carbon capture, restoration of soil cover and the biogeochemical and hydrological cycles. We are one of the largest employers in the northern region of Brazil.
Our sustainable oil palm cultivation is carried out in accordance with the environmental legislation in force and respects the Agroecological Zoning of the Oil Palm, recovering degraded areas of the Amazon forest.
The Agroecological Zoning of Oil Palm, a program created by the Federal Government in 2010 through Decree No. 7.172/2010, determines preferential and regular areas for oil palm cultivation in Brazil, with the aim of restructuring the country's energy matrix, as well as planning the sustainable use of land.
Oil palm has 10x more yield than soy in vegetable oil production. It is a perennial and robust crop, with a productive life cycle of more than 35 years.
We are the largest palm oil producer in Latin America.

Oil palm is our main raw material. We are active in sustainable cultivation, oil palm commercialization, biofuel production, and renewable energy generation.
Learn how we operate in the cultivation of Oil Palm, recovering degraded areas in the Amazon and generating jobs in the region.
It all starts with the choice of the best seeds. We work with seeds that have the best genetic conception available in the national and international market.
The seeds are carefully planted by the hands of our women farmers and with continuous monitoring of the seedlings in the pre-vegetation.
The oil palm plants stay about 9 months in the nursery, receiving the necessary care and cultural treatments to get stronger.
With the plant already formed, the seedlings are planted on BBF's own land. These are areas that were degraded until 2007 and the oil palm has the role of recovering the soil and the local biome.
Our plantation covers an area of more than 75,000 hectares in the Amazon region and we follow the best international practices for the cultivation and sustainable management of oil palm.
The fruit harvest is carried out by our agricultural team, consisting of more than 4,000 direct employees, following the best safety, health, and environmental practices.
In our agro-industrial centers, located in the states of Pará and Roraima, we have a production capacity of more than 200,000 tons of palm oil per year, which is used in various industries in Brazil.
Palm oil is the most consumed vegetable oil in the world and is used globally in the production of food, cosmetics and hygiene products. In Brazil, we are pioneers in using palm oil to produce biofuels.
