Brasil BioFuels (BBF) has signed a partnership with Topsoe, a carbon reduction technology company, to supply hydroprocessing equipment used in the production of biofuels, which will be adopted in the biorefinery that the company is going to build in the Manaus Free Trade Zone.

Hydroprocessing equipment is the main component of a biorefinery.

The technology that will be adopted will allow the recycling of gases and liquids from production processes, with reuse for the production of hydrogen, a substance used in the processing of green diesel (HVO) and sustainable aviation fuel (SAF).

The hydrogenation stage, part of the production process of the two biofuels, will also be handled by Topsoe.

BBF's total investment in the biorefinery is R$ 2.2 billion and construction is scheduled to start in 2023. When completed, the unit should produce 500 million liters per year.
