grupo BBF, Brasil Biofuels, wants to recover degraded areas in the Amazon region by growing native plants and capturing carbon. As well as environmental recovery, the activity will generate jobs and income. In an interview with JR Agro, the group's CEO, Milton Steagall, told us about the company's history, which began with the need to produce an ecological fuel for thermoelectric plants. Among the plants grown are cocoa, açaí and palm oil. The latter is used to produce biodiesel and jet fuel. By 2030, the group has a bold goal: to become the largest single cocoa producer in the world. The position is currently held by Ghana and Ivory Coast.
